We personally know every single host family!  Before your arrival, we visit every family and have several meetings to prepare them for the “hosting experience”.  All families have provided two references.  Our conclusion with EVERY single family is that they are very nice people!

Just like with a multi-month student exchange program, the American families individually select their “ideal” student.  We have typical two parent families with their own children as well as single parents and/or host-chaperones without children.  You will be treated by the families as a son or daughter.  The quality of the relationship to your American host family naturally depends upon each individual’s behavior and participation.  How about a small present, like cooking something special from your home, to thank your host family?  “To show appreciation” is one of the most important values in the US!  Tell a tale about life in Germany one evening.  Ask your family about their personal history and time in school.  All these things make you an excellent ambassador and overall a liked and interested and interesting guest.
